Apply now as Local Coordinator and support our Mission on the ground!

From Wednesday, 1 June till Tuesday, 7 June 2016, we are organising an Election Observation Mission to the general elections in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia that are currently scheduled for 5 June 2016*.

AEGEE Election Observation is looking for motivated volunteers in the country to support our Mission on the ground.

For this Mission we are now looking for Local Coordinators based in different locations in the country. This position is not remunerated.

The Mission will take place:

  • 1-4 June in Skopje (for preparation);
  • 4-6 June in different locations in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (for observation);
  • 6-7 June in Skopje (for debriefing).

Local Coordinators are appointed to assist the Mission Coordinators in the following points:

  1. Accommodation – preferably provided for free;
  2. Orientation – including travel arrangements from and to Skopje, as well as help with local transport;
  3. Interpreters – young people who speak both Macedonian and English to accompany the observers on Election Day.

Additionally, in the 'headquarter' city of the Mission, Skopje, Local Coordinators ideally should be able to to help us with:

  • (free) accommodation for all Mission participants (27 in total); free meeting space; organising social activities; providing advice on local transport.
  • the accreditation of the Mission with the national authorities; local fundraising; organising meetings with interlocutors and young political candidates.

Most of these tasks should be dealt with by the end of April. During the Mission itself, Local Coordinators function as interlocutors for the observers in case of questions. Local Coordinators in Skopje assist the Mission during the deployment and social activities. It is therefore highly desirable that Local Coordinators be present in Skopje during the Mission.

Local Coordinators cooperate directly with the overall Mission Coordinators.

In order to join our team of Local Coordinators, please apply here until Thursday, 31 March 2016.

For any questions, please e-mail Dessi at dessi.hristova@aegee.org or Julia at julia.krebs@aegee.org.

We look forward to your application!

*Please note that in theory there may still be changes to the final election date. We do not expect this to happen, but if it does, we will notify you. According to the constitution, the election date must be set latest 60 days in advance, which means that we should have certainty by 7 April.
