Pleased to meet you: Isabella Pinno and Kseniya Dashutina

Our second Election Observation Mission of 2015 is coming up: on 19 April we will observe the Finnish parliamentary elections! Finland is regarded as a political and democratic role model, so this mission will be a great opportunity to gain knowledge to compare with countries with weaker democracies. Our EOM will be led by two ladies. They are introducing themselves below!

“My name is Kseniya Dashutina and I am from Belarus. I hold a degree in International Law and two masters in Public International Law and Human Rights. I have previously worked as a lawyer in private sector in Belarus from 2008 to 2011. I have observed elections in number of countries, including Belarus, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, mostly with OSCE/ODIHR. I am really looking forward to work with the AEGEE team and to observe upcoming 19 April parliamentary elections in Finland!”

“My name is Isabella Pinno. I am a Polish-German law student in my final course of studies at Humboldt University Berlin. My academic background is in public international law with a focus on transitional justice and post-conflict reconciliation, democratisation, peaceful settlement of conflicts, human rights and international criminal justice. After several extended stays abroad to gain professional experience in the field of international relations, I am now soon to finish my around two-years long stay in Africa, in the course of which I most recently worked with the Delegation of the EU in Cameroon. Having already served as Election Observer in Kyiv during the Ukrainian Parliamentary Elections in 2014, I would take on any EOM task anytime again with great motivation. Given that in 2014, the Finish coalition shrank to four parties with the departure of the Left Alliance and the Greens, the up-coming elections in April 2015 will be particularly interesting for both the Finish as well as EU politics. It thus will be my biggest pleasure to coordinate and facilitate this EOM.”

We wish Kseniya and Isabella good luck with the preparations of EOM Finland!

Stay tuned for our Open Call for observers.
