Welcome

How easy is it in today's Europe for you to be mobile? And if you are travelling, are you really meeting the people or cultures of the countries you travel through? Or do you actually just get in contact with the local tourist industry?

The Borderless Europe Rally/ MCE College 2000 aims to give 32 young people the possibility to test their limits of mobility and to dive into some of the most intensive cultural experiences. They will compete in eight teams of four persons each, representing various parts of Europe. Neither will they know each other prior to the rally nor will they be acquainted with the route they have to take. In the 20 days available, they have to travel together over a distance of more than 8000 km, crossing more than 25 borders. They will travel mainly by train, but also by other means of transport (buses, ferries, hitchhiking, horse-riding, even on foot!)

The rally consists of 12 phases, each lasting two days and providing the participants with specific challenges. The winner of each phase, or ultimately of the whole rally, is not necessarily the fastest group. Much more importance will be instead given on skills of the team members when fulfilling the tasks assigned to them during the rally. These assignments will bring the participants in contact with the local inhabitants and their culture. Only with the help of the local citizens will the participants be able to win. At the end of each step, surprise festivals and parties organised by the local AEGEE branches in co-operation with other youth organisations, will welcome the participants.
