Event description
Since no Hungarians like to be the subject of “funny” jokes saying that all Hungarians should be hungry, we invite you all to experience our gastronomic and cultural paradise. We hope to be able to prove that leaving the region’s cuisine and touristic attractions untried could be a terrible loss for you. Thus you will also have the chance to try the next best thing – an enchanting Transylvanian flavor.

AEGEE-Debrecen and AEGEE-Sibiu are proud to offer you this unique chance to get familiar with our surroundings. Upon participating in our Traveling Summer University you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the local spirit.
Find out what true Central-Eastern-European hospitality means and come taste Hungarian and Romanian culture. Get to know why so many people gets mesmerized by Tokaj wine and pálinka, try our traditional folk dances and handicrafts and then refresh yourself a bit in our famous spas.
Places visited
Debrecen
Visit Hungary’s second largest city which gives home to several significant cultural, religious and sport events in all seasons of the year. Our participants will have the opportunity to discover the hottest spots of this city, such as the Great Calvinist Church, the University of Debrecen and the Tanner’s House.
Sibiu
Visit a town filled with culture and get a taste of the medieval times by walking on the narrow streets and seeing the beautiful towers. This is the place to relax and have fun at the same time. The European Capital of Culture in 2007, Sibiu, is a must see this summer! It's located in the heart of Transylvania, surrounded by mountains and the ASTRA museum, just near Sibiu is the second largest open air museum in Europe.
Hortobágy
We are going to take you to the Puszta, to the endless Great Plain of Hungary which is a World Heritage sight since 1999. The visitors of this magical place will be able to observe typical Hungarian species in their natural environment and take part in the cavalcade of the Hortobágy Bridge Fair.
Miskolc
The capital of Northeastern Hungary is situated in the valley of the Sajó river, among the peaks of the Bükk mountain range, offering you the ultimate program of an adventurous weekend, ranging from the visit of the Diósgyőr castle to spending a relaxing afternoon in the outstanding cave bath of Miskolctapolca.
Tokaj
The fatherland of the world-famous Tokaj wine is located at the meeting point of the Tisza and the Bodrog rivers. Some lucky AEGEEans will be granted the possibility to explore the natural beauty of this place as well as to reveal the secret of its wine production’s success.
