Event description
Have you ever wondered how it would feel to experience the best moments of a year in a single week? With the motto "There to traditions and back to modern times again" AEGEE-Krakow and AEGEE-Berlin want to give you the opportunity to discover two amazing cultures and experience old traditions at modern times. You will take cuisine classes and dancing workshops, you will learn how to celebrate Oktoberfest and German carnival and have fun on a typical Polish wedding. All this will take place in the two breath-taking cities Berlin and Krakow, two of the most interesting spots to be in central Europe.
Places visited
Krakow
Kraków will make you mesmerized with his one of the biggest in the world market square, charming, small streets - where you wish to get lost, pubs filled with students and unique polish food. The day and night mix together to connect and make the best out of your time. During the day, Wawel castle, more than 50 museums, Jewish district, beautiful parks and at night main square with charming lights and the vibe… vibe that will make you remember that Krakow is proud of having the biggest quantity of pubs and clubs for a square kilometer.
Berlin
Berlin is the capital of Germany as well as the country's largest city and a cultural melting pot. Being one of the largest cities of Europe at the heart of the continent, Berlin has experienced political turmoil and upheaval throughout the last century mainly due to World War II and the subsequent division of the city by the Berlin Wall. After the reunification in 1990 the city has seen a major influx in cultural life e.g. sporting events, festivals and exhibitions which makes it a unique place holding possibilities for everyone.
Warsaw
Warszawa is the capital and also the biggest city of Poland. This is a major international tourist destination and an important economic hub in Central and Eastern Europe. Warsaw is a combination of modern urban development and historical architecture, it offers to visitors the atmosphere of past centuries and sense of modernity. Public transport in Warsaw is really good organized - it consists of metro line, local trains, trams, buses and two airports. There are several places worth seeing in Warszawa, especially the Old Town and the Warsaw Uprising Museum, one of the most modern museums in this part of Europe. But what is unique in Warszawa is the atmosphere of the city where past meets present and they mix together to create the future. Uniqueness of Warsaw will not leave you indifferent.
Potsdam
Potsdam – City of palaces & parks
Potsdam is best known as the former royal seat of Prussia with a number of magnificent parks and palaces. Prussia's splendour and glory, the legacy of Frederick I and Frederick II (better known as Frederick the Great), a proud tradition as a seat of art and science – Potsdam offers a spectacular wealth of culture and history.
The past 300 years have seen the transformation of Potsdam from a garrison town to one of Europe’s most imposing royal capitals. Potsdam’s architectural masterpieces, the 17 palaces that are surrounded by an abundance of landscape gardens lining the banks of the beautiful Havel waterscape have considerably determined Potsdam as Germany's largest world heritage site.
