CagliariCagliari is the most important city of Sardinia, with a metropolitan area of about half a million inhabitants. The capital of the island has a soul consisting of a millenary history, culture, nature, beach tourism and night life, an attractive mix that fascinates the visitor, charmed by the views of Castello, the ramparts and the Roman remains, the Sardinian sea, as well as by the dynamism of a surprisingly lively city.
Cagliari is a perfect eco-system, a city suspended among sky, earth and water. Water in Cagliari is not only the sea. A few steps from the long beach lie lagoons and natural reserves unique all over Europe. In the old saltworks, that at sunset wear purple-red hues.
Watching Cagliari from the sea, one has a feeling of entering a scenic city, easy to see due to the immediacy of its landscape, in constant variation from the points of view. The African look given by the palms trees and the yellow limestone are tempered by the architecture markedly western and this combination of character so distant makes the city unique in its diversity.
Orosei Gulf, BauneiGulf of Orosei is probably the most fascinating area of the Island, situated in the east coast, it is ready to offer you all its splendour and all the colours, scents and sensations that only few beaches in the world can boast. Rocks overlooking the sea, bays and coves with transparent water so that you may snorkel by simply walking in it.
CuglieriCuglieri is a village in the west coast overlooking the sea, was built on the ruins of the ancient Roman town andIts countryside is littered with the signs of prehistoric peoples: the domus de janas (chamber tombs), dolmens and nuraghes. The coast near Cuglieri is a paradise of white cliffs and crystalline waters.
The most popular beaches are Santa Caterina, closed off by a beautiful limestone headland topped by a Spanish watchtower, and S’Archittu, named after the magnificent natural arch measuring about 10 m carved into the cliff by the sea and the wind.
BosaAn ancient Phoenician settlement, later taken over by the Romans, Bosa lies in the valley of the river Temo, the only navigable river in Sardinia, in an area famous for its outstanding food traditions and the quality of its oil and special wines like the most famous Malvasia.
