“Magic has been an unsolved and ethereal science since the beginning of humanity, recorded throughout the history as a vague explanation to the biggest mysteries of our existence. This creates an incredulity feeling among most of us, but there are people who still fantasize with a magic that disappeared a long time ago. Others, they assert this magic is actually working everyday in our lives.
At least, this magic was something common in the ancient region of Westernland, where two benevolent kings shared the benefits of this power, confined in an inextinguishable flame, for the prosperity of both kingdoms of Coruña and León. Indeed, this magic provided to these people the ability to use a wild power inside them for their daily duties, what enriched the region as one of the most powerful in the whole continent.
In order to express their gratitude to the flame for this magic, every summer the Westernlanders organised two weeks with plenty of games. Here, the sportsmanship, intelligence, strategy and teamwork were tested to crown every winner as a future candidate for the new reign. Once the games came to an end, the thirteenth night was celebrated in a great party around the flame, when the magical power of the flame impregnate the Westernlanders and transform them into complete animals. Then, during the fourteenth day’s sunset, the winner of the games was crowned as queen or king of the games.
Unhappily, the reign of Queen Feira and King Leoncio ended with a fatidic night, when the Westernlanders, celebrating around the flame one more year, were transformed and lost their own control, destroying everything and killing each other. Feira and Leoncio decided to extinguish the flame with their power, ending with that massacre, but cursing themselves to stay eternally in a lethargic form.
After that last sunset, neither kingdoms could light the flame again, nor use its magic, which was gone away from Westernland; and all its citizens and descendants were named as Sunvivors, who left the region to move into different parts of the continent.”
Over time, a few groups of people decided to celebrate further editions of these games as a historical and cultural tradition, looking for the wildest participants around Europe, creating the Wild Games of Westernland. Now, we might have found a way to light the ancient flame again, but we need all of you to take part in a new edition of the games. Are you wild enough to win this competition, and awake the power of the flame once again?
