Castlemania – get to know the SUnny side of the Kurpfalz! Profile Picture
“Dearest Lords, dearest Ladies,

the region of the Kurpfalz is in grave danger. Since the unfortunate decease of our beloved sovereign we are in need of a new ruler! With this letter we invite you to a series of trials to see which of you is the most fitting to fill this vacancy.
Be prepared to experience interactive workshops about democratic participation and active citizenship with AEGEE’s Civic Education Working Group, so we can see who of you will be the wisest leader. We will take you to visit three major cities of your future empire and explore possible locations of your royal residence. Get familiar with our traditions, like wine hiking, the language and local cuisine. Since we need the ruler to also be physically fit, there will be sportive challenges like a rope park or kayaking, too.
To be sure that after all these exhausting activities you have the best sleep, we will provide you with the finest - real - beds this side of the Neckar. Please be quick and answer our call honestly, our future is in your hands!”

Have you ever wanted to stroll through magnificent castles, hike along the mountains of the famous Neckar valley and visit one of the places of European democracy? Then this SU is just for you. We have it all: culture, politics, sports, leisure.

Get the real authentic Kurpfalz experience - apply now or you will regret it!

Heidelberg

German poet J. W. Goethe wrote about its beauty and American author Mark Twain said that he “never enjoyed a view which had such a serene and satisfying charm about it as this one” about the view from the castle over the city. Home to the oldest university of Germany and still cultural center of the region, this city is stunning all year round.

Mannheim

Mannheim not only has the biggest castle in Europe (it has one window more than Versailles), but its quarter-like layout also inspired the builders of Manhattan (at least they like to say that). As a city of inventors it can claim many contributions to our modern world, but the most important might be Spaghetti ice cream!

Schwetzingen

The castle of Schwetzingen is famous for its magical garden with a mosque and fountains, temples, pavilions and sculptures. The perfect place for a relaxing afternoon picnic.

Strasbourg

This Alsatian city is not only well known for its beautiful old town center and the traditional "tarte flambée" but also for the location of the European Court of Human Rights, the European Parliament and the Council of Europe.
