Join the Contest

Have you ever felt that Europe should be more borderless than it is? The Essay Contest gives you the opportunity to express your own visions, to highlight or tackle problems related to the mobility of European citizens.

Write an Essay in English of about max. 600 words on one of the following four topics:

- "Mr. President, distinguished members of the European Parliament(…)" - prepare a speech on the obstacles to the free movement of students, workers or citizens in general, to be delivered at the session of the European Parliament.

- Your Vision of a Borderless Europe

- How to overcome Borders in Europe? (possible topics to be discussed: Politics, Economy, Society and Culture)

- How can Internet contribute to the creation of a borderless Europe?*

Essays have to be handed in between the 1st of October and the 28th of February 2001 to:

A Jury, consisting of three persons, will analyse the delivered essays and give out the awards for first, second and third place.

Prizes

1st Prize
One Global Interrail ticket and free participation at the Final Conference in Cluj-Napoca (RO) 28.4. - 2.5. 2001 (travel not included)
. At the award ceremony the essay will be presented. Furthermore it will be published in the result brochure of the Borderless Europe project.

2nd Prize
Free participation in a Summer University of AEGEE-Europe (incl. course, accomodation, one meal per day; travel is not included)

3rd - 10th Prize
Valuable book prizes from our partners Penguin and Britannica

Special Category Award
The best essay among those dealing with the Internet topic will be awarded with a free participation worth 533 Euro in the European Internet Seminar, organised by Van Dusseldorp and Partners (http://www.euria.org) in Summer 2001 in Amsterdam (accomodation and travel are not covered).
