Under the patronage of the United Nations, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage RP, City of Lodz and IPWG, AEGEE Lódz proudly invites you for the international conference:

'Africa - so far yet so close'

23-27 of April 2008

Africa is still facing many problems:
  • WARS
  • POVERTY
  • FAMINE
  • DISEASES
  • FEAR
  • And many other burning issues
  • Europe must get involved and take action!!!

During 5 days long conference you will have a great chance to meet and work with people engaged in African matters: politicians, journalists, NGO's workers, volunteers. We will run through many difficult topics such as: the EU- partnership; European, Asian and American activity in Africa; Crimes against humanity; Darfur crisis; Chances for democratization and many others. During lectures, workshops, discussions and case-studies you will familiarize with the reality of this place, realize what Africa was in the past, how this continent looks like now and finally we will try to see it in a bright light concerning the future.

Apart from substantial part you will have also an opportunity to feel, see, touch and listen to real Africa during African Culture Night, to chill out during other social events in the city of dozens of pubs and clubs placed along Piotrkowska Street, the longest street in Europe. And of course get ready for European Drinking Night!!! You can't miss it!!!
