AEGEE Election Observation is looking for three young people to lead our upcoming Observation Mission to the United Kingdom European Union Membership Referendum, taking place on 23 June 2016.

The deployment of the Mission will take place during the week before the Referendum and will end two days after the day of the Referendum (20-25 June – five nights). The Mission Coordinators (MCs) are required to arrive at least one day prior to deployment for preparation activities.

Three different positions are open:
Coordinator for general Management (MC1), Coordinator for Logistics (MC2) and Coordinator for Research (MC3).

The respective tasks include the following:

  • MC1: Management of the Mission, including day-to-day communication with the observers; drafting of the deployment plan, organisation of the agenda of the Mission;
  • MC2: Outreach and visibility, fundraising, formal accreditation of observers, organisation of meetings with stakeholders, dissemination of information (including press releases and final report);
  • MC3: Background research, including preliminary research for the final report; eventual adaption of observation forms to the country-specific context, briefing of observers during the Mission, drafting of the final report.

Necessary qualifications:

• have experience in project management and international teamwork;
• be familiar with the context of the Referendum;
• have sufficient time in the three months preceding the Mission (1-2 hours a day, likely more in busy weeks);
• dispose swiftness and reliability in day-to-day online communication;
• have great organisational skills, attention to details, dedication, and ability to stick to deadlines.

Eligibility criteria for MCs:

• be at least 18 and not more than 35 years old;
• legally reside in a European country (geographically speaking, including Russia, Turkey, Caucasus);
• hold no British citizenship;
• have a professional fluency in English;
• be available to attend the entire mission in person.

In general, our Missions are organised on a 100% voluntary basis and do not involve any remuneration. AEGEE Election Observation works on raising funds for its upcoming Missions but cannot guarantee at this moment that we will be able to provide any financial assistance.
