The Forum Civique Europeene has been introduced to the participants who have now just finished their first workshop sessions. Combinating the results of the workshops with the newly gained knowledge of the initiative of the FCE will prove challenging.
The FCE wants to build on civil society on a European level, recognizing that NGO's are not given the appropriate credibility and role in the democratic process. Whereas it seems the Commission is rather satisfied with their contact with thematized NGO's, FCE stresses the need for a pan-european, pan-thematic civil society to arise as the only way to achieve full democracy and solving the disconnection between the EU institutions and the citizens of Europe! |
