7. Skopje - Beograd The train from Thessaloniki to Skopje was faster then we thought, so we arrived to Skopje quite early. People from AEGEE-Skopje were waiting for us and took us to a student hostel. Finally, a nice warm shower again and a real bed to sleep in, what could we wish more!? Next day the research assignments again. In the evening, we enjoyed the lively nightlife of Skopje, but a lot of people went to bed earlier, because they wanted to go to the lake the next day. It was a Macedonian holiday next day and everybody from Skopje went to the lake. That was a good thing to do because all shops were closed. The people who enjoyed the nightlife or wanted to do some washing didn’t went to the lake. At three o'clock we had to gather again at the castle of Skopje where the participants had to show eachother the Greek dances they have learned. On a stage with a beautiful view over the city they had to show their dances. AEGEE-Skopje and some girls from AEGEE-Utrecht who we met in Skopje were the jury. Everybody did a good job and we were really amazed by their skills. In the end, the winning group had to teach others how to dance the dance they have learned in Greece. In the evening, we said goodbye to all the friendly people from AEGEE-Skopje and left for Belgrade. AEGEE-Belgrade was also a perfect host. After not having any trouble at the border we arrived and they brought us to a nice student hostel again. Afterwards, we went sightseeing with our hosts. The destroyed buildings in the centre made a huge impression. We went to see the television building which has been bombed. You’ve seen it already on the television, but it makes a different impression when you see it in reality. The conversation with our hosts were mainly about the bombing, the war and Milosovic. You had to talk about it, because everything you saw, reminded you of it. We went to the old park and had a beautiful view over the river and the city. But the nice view was interrupted by the sight of the destroyed buildings or the bridge. The stories of the two Belgrade members made the picture complete. Still deeply impressed we went to have dinner, completely sponsered by AEGEE Belgrade. Perfect! And they also showed us that AEGEE Belgrade have one of the best nightlifes in Europe. It was a miracle that next morning still everybody was on time to catch the next train. Hmm, a miracle, the train had a three hour delay so if hadn´t been on time for this train, something really weird would have happened. We met Niels and Petra on the station, who arrived early in the morning. The group was complete again. The train went to Zagreb, where we were supposed to have a stop for a few hours and then go on to Venezia, Italy. In co-operation with our main partner of the rally, Management Centre Europe (www.mce.be), we will keep you informed regularly about the latest developments. Your Borderless Europe
