The Don river is one of the main rivers in the European part of Russia. Different times it was one of the main water way for trade, that's why two biggest cities were founded near this river. Two Russian AEGEE-antennas from Voronezh and Rostov-on-Don offer you to know more about history of Don region and have a journey from Voronezh to the south, to the low flow of the river Don, where you can find lots of Cossack places, and visit Rostov and also to go to the Sea of Azov and to Taganrog. It will be a deep dive into the culture of the Don region. We even don't say about entertainments, parties and fun, it is very usual in Russia.
During our Traveling summer university we visit ethnic and archaeological complex "Lost world", which is situated in one of Cossack village Pukhlyakovsky. Visiting museum of Cossack History, workshop of kindling fire and making historic reconstructions, sweeming in the Don are only a little part of what you can do here. it is the best way to good spend time and get positive emotions.

Rostov-on-DonRostov-on-Don is southern capital of Russia and a port of 5 seas, a city with a rich history. It is located on the river Don. Rostov-on-Don has a long history as busy trading port, which was visited by Russian, Italian, Greek, Turkish, as well as other foreign merchants. Rostov-on-Don has rich cultural traditions, increased by many well-known figures of art, literature and science. Rostov-on-Don is famous for Sabina Spielrein, Freid's pupil, one of the first female psychoanalysts, writers Mikhail Sholokhov and Anton Chekhov
TaganrogTaganrog is a seaport of Don Region located on the north shore of the Taganrog Gulf (Sea of Azov), several kilometers west of the mouth of the Don River. The image of the city and its people is featured in numerous novels of famous Russian writer Anton Chekhov. Names of Russian emperors Peter I of Russia and Alexander I of Russia, Giuseppe Garibaldi, Cornelius Cruys, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Adolph Brodsky, Achilles Alferaki and many other famous people are brought to mind when Taganrog is mentioned.
AzovAzov is ancient city on the river Don. Its history started many thousand years ago, when this place was settled by Scythians. In different time such states as Most Greek colony and colony of Tanais Bosporus were on the territory of Azov. Also city is mentioned with Russian emperor Peter I, who conquered Azov and opened to Russia the way to the southern seas.
