sLOVEnia at first sight Profile Picture
This summer, put your body and mind to the test and join us on an adventurous journey with majestic dragons, a rogue snapping turtle and folklore. Discover the hidden treasure in the heart of Europe and be charmed by wonderful nature, emerald waters and fairytale-like small towns. In these two weeks you will get a chance to get familiar with (drink-wise-ing!) culture, lifestyle and customs of Slovenians, while exploring our small country on the Sunny side of the Alps.

Your epic journey will begin by trying to pass the Dragon Bridge guarded by - you guessed it - a DRAGON (from the story of Jason and the Argonauts); in our beloved Ljubljana, the picturesque capital of Slovenia, which last year held the title of the European Green Capital 2016.
Next you will put to test your endurance hiking up the great and amazing mountain plateau Velika planina. And if you think swimming in an alpine lake with an island in the middle and a castle on the hill sounds too unreal you will love Bled, the place where your wishes can come true. Plus, you won’t need a magic wardrobe to visit Tolmin and enter the breathtaking world of Soča River Valley, where the scenes for Narnia were filmed, just don’t forget to pack your swimsuit - it is gonna get wet. So WAT-ER you waiting for? Rafting. Check.
The final challenge on your journey is waiting for you in Maribor, the second biggest Slovenian city, famous for the oldest grapevine in the world, a Golden Fox, and much more. The challenge? Help us find Vinko - a snapping turtle that’s been terrorizing the city for over a year now.
There will be many trials, but you will fall in sLOVEnia at the first sight!

Ljubljana could be roughly translated as the ‘loved one’, and it certainly is. Being the largest Slovenian city Ljubljana is still quite small, but it has a lot of character to show due to an interesting mixture of two very different but complementary features: it’s a city famed for its historical heritage and tradition, and at the same time very young city with a modern lifestyle. Wandering the streets in the city centre surrounded by beautiful buildings of various architecture styles, you arrive to Ljubljanica river, where on one of the many bridges a dragon is waiting for you to take you up to the city castle. And then you go to another street and it all changes, suddenly there is a lot of graffiti and a different alternative vibe. Romantic or alternative, Ljubljana has a way of inviting you in one of the many cute cafés and making you call it beloved.

Bled is the most visited city in Slovenia with its most significant attraction – Alpine lake with a little island in the middle. Sounds interesting? There is also church on it! Even better? What if we say that there is also a castle on the big rock right next to the lake!? No, it’s not a fairytale, it’s a reality, it is Bled.

Tolmin is a small town in northwestern Slovenia situated on the southern rim of the Julian Alps and is positioned beneath steep mountainous valleys, located on a terrace above the confluence of the Tolminka and Soča rivers. Soča river is considered one of the most beautiful European rivers, and is called mountain’s emerald beauty.
Town's main sights are its old town centre, a modern sports park, and thousand-year-old castle ruins at the hill known as Kozlov rob. Tolmin is known for the festival Metaldays, which every year attracts about 10,000 people from whole Europe and other parts of world. Other festivals held in Tolmin are Punk Rock Holiday and the Overjam reggae festival.

Why be the capital city of a country when you can be the capital of Štajerska (Styria) region. All who get to know it love it, nuff said… but seriously. Caught between the river Drava, Pohorje Mountain and Piramida hill, Maribor is the city where fun goes on vacation. The chilled out atmosphere in the city with the oldest vine on earth is something to experience and enjoy, while altogether hanging with the fun loving people of the city that will keep you coming back for more.
