Smells Like GREEN Spirit Profile Picture
Did you know that almost 10% of the country are protected areas that include 8 national parks, 11 nature parks and 2 strict nature reserves? Or that Croatia has over 1244 islands and islets, most of which are completely uninhabited? Or that Croatia has the highest volume of freshwater resources per capita in the EU? Come and explore the most beautiful side of Croatia - our nature - while actively engaging in environmental actions across the country!

From the capital of the country situated below the Medvednica mountain, via the UNESCO protected Plitvice lakes National Park, all the way to the Adriatic sea and the hometown of world’s first sea organ - Zadar, you will experience one of the most green adventures of your life! And not only that - you will learn how to live a sustainable life and reduce your negative impact on the environment, while taking some small, but meaningful local actions!

We love our nature and we proudly show it to 15 million tourists per year, but it seems like it might change in the future. As you know, climate change is happening all over the world and if we don’t take actions now, who knows if Croatia will still have its 10% of the land protected and all those 1244 islands and islets? That’s why in 2018, Croatia smells like GREEN spirit, and so do YOU!

During 11 days, 25 green spirit chasers will be visiting the city of million hearts - Zagreb, hike up the Sljeme mountain, walk in the beautiful nature of Plitvice lakes, explore the old town of Zadar (elected as the best European destination in 2016), go scuba diving and plunge into the sea. And we will not stop here - you will learn about zero waste lifestyle, experience the world of permaculture, taste the organic local food, live healthy and take care of the environment. This green adventure is your chance to have a real impact: we will clean the beach and plant trees! You will get to know Croatian culture and language while tasting our typical dishes. But don’t think that’s it, we also prepared thematic parties for you, you just have to prove you are green enough to handle it! ;)

Zagreb is the biggest city and the capital of Croatia. It is an administrational, cultural, educational, and economical hub with long and rich history starting from the Roman time. It has romantic spirit especially during summer when it is full of tourists, who want to see its main attractions, like Ban Josip Jelacic square, Gornji grad (the Upper Town), Zagreb Cathedral, Maksimir and many other beautiful parks and sights.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest national park in Southeast Europe and the largest in Croatia. The national park was founded in 1949. and granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979.The beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species.

Zadar, a coastal city in northern Dalmatia, is a charming city where history comes to life. This city is the home to unique attractions such as the Sea organ, an architectural object and an experimental musical instrument which plays music by way of sea waves, and the The Greeting to the Sun, an installation that shows a magical play of light in the Zadar evening.
