The BRIDGE made up of cultural diversity
Students and the European dimension, a physical and intellectual mobility that make up cultural diversity. But how about integrating students with disability into this cultural diversity? This is an important theme tackled by the Project The BRIDGE – Connecting Mobility and Disability. It is the first time in 20 years of AEGEE that the topic of physical mobility for disadvantaged youth is being tackled. Disability has become nowadays a significant issue in the European society, and not least in the youth scene.

Every year student organisations and mobility programmes open their doors to students and guarantee infinite opportunities for cultural growth and integration of diverse cultures. This time round we want to open the doors to youth with disability conditions as we want to further the opportunity of mobility for everyone and to surpass the habitual cultural stereotypes that prevent a proper communication between disabled and non disabled persons.

The concept of cultural diversity will be dealt in the process of the project by gathering disabled and non-disabled youth from different countries, background, opinions to discuss and cooperate on different attitudes and views towards youth carrying any form of handicap. Sharing experiences from both sides will facilitate everyone to reach a better cultural understanding in this subject. Bringing students closer and spreading awareness among all sections of the youth community will be an appropriate action to confront with these problematic conditions.

Two different worlds will meet and mobility will be the key word in this course as every kind of opportunity, be it mental or physical, should be open to everyone, and this is want we want to show and do.
