No matter how bad things get you must never give up hope, hope that people can change, hope in humanity, hope that a better life is possible… someday.  Without believing in other people, without having faith in the ability to trust, listen, cry and laugh, all that is left is emptiness.  We all have to face crises of difference magnitudes and contexts, have different experiences; but if you, I, she, he, them, cannot love difference, loving himself or herself is impossible.  Peace is not, to quote Amos Oz, “a mystical compromise… only death is perfect,” peace is a struggle.  The struggle of life is the struggle of peace.  To ignore hope is to ignore life.  To ignore life is to ignore peace.  To ignore peace is to embrace death.  Hope is life.
